Peoli is an apparel brand built on the principles of sustainable living through sourcing organic raw materials, honoring indigenous skills, and creating livelihood opportunities at the grassroots level in the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand. They operate at the intersection of being aesthetically unique, environmentally responsible, and generating livelihood for the women they employ. The combination of design and purpose makes Peoli stand out from the competition and has won them an Award for Excellence in Handicrafts by the World Crafts Council in 2018.

Abhinav Dhoundiyal

DESIGNATED PARTNER

Abhinav Dhoundiyal, a textile designer and independent researcher, is a co-founder of Peoli, based in his home state of Uttarakhand. He is a graduate in Textile Design from the National Institute of Design, where he undertook a comprehensive study of the textile traditions of Central Nagaland. He has conducted several natural dyeing workshops for artisans in the region and holds a special interest in the documentation of indigenous knowledge systems, ideation, and implementation of sustainable practices. His work currently supports around 60 women artisans, training them in spinning, knitting, and natural dyeing.

Vasanthi Veluri

DESIGNATED PARTNER

Vasanthi Veluri is a co-founder of Peoli. She has a graduate degree in Textile Design from the National Institute of Design. During her studies, she worked on various projects which introduced her to both the importance and the impact of handmade products. As a believer of sustainable and slow living, Vasanthi finds deep value and importance in respecting and improving local skills as well as nurturing the hands and heart of the women who work for Peoli.
