Shoegaro is a social business headquartered in Agra, India. It provides a reliable platform to connect artisans making handmade shoes with demand centers across India in low & middle-income segments.

Shoegaro was conceptualised to preserve the dying art of handmade shoemaking, with aim to engage artisans families who have carried forward the traditional art of handmade shoes.

Keeping the social concern of unemployed footwear artisans and the encouraging dataset of the footwear industry, the founders of Shoegaro were prompted to design a business plan out of their inclination to conserve art of shoemaking.

Shoegaro engages both men and women of shoemaking artisan families at various stages of shoe making and tries to provide consistent shoemaking orders thereby providing livelihood opportunities by doing what they know best. They also consistently try to improvise shoemaking skills of these artisans and bring them close to the latest technology.

Ankit Kumar

CO-FOUNDER

Ankit earned an MBA from DEI, Agra and has 14 years of work experience in sales, marketing, and social entrepreneurship, primarily in ecommerce for Chocofest (handmade chocolates), Investorsaathi, medical devices (myhealthklub.com), and finally footwear (shoegaro.com). To address social concerns and looking into the willingness of artisans to restart their generations old professional trade, he founded Shoegaro in 2015 to help ailing art of handmade shoe making.

Gagan Mukhi

CO-FOUNDER

Gagan studied B.Com. and earned his MBA from Dayalbagh Educational Institute, Agra. He has several years of experience in footwear manufacturing and operated his own unit at Agra with a family expertise in shoe making. Gagan co-Founded Shoegaro in 2015 to create livelihood opportunities for footwear artisans.

Dr. Hifza Afaq

CO-FOUNDER

Dr. Hifza Afaq is an experienced professional with a demonstrated history of working in computer software and physics with a Doctor of Philosophy – PhD focused in Computer Science from DEI. She has an interest in making life automated and secure. Currently, she is heading the IT and Social Impact Initiatives for Footwear artisan families.
